History
From a carpenter's to a furniture workshop
1954 – one year before the Allied Occupation of Austria ended – Josef Hochgerner senior decides to found his own workshop. After finishing his carpentry training with a craftsman’s diploma and a masters degree, he sets up a first small workshop and starts the production with only one apprentice at hand.
Quality & Family business
From the beginning the principle is to produce only premium quality. A principle that’s valid until today.
1957 Josef Hochgerner senior’s wife Gisela takes up the challenge to support her husband in his workshop: she becomes the driving force behind the small company – besides looking after the upbringing of their five children.
A family-run business has started.
Founding a GmbH
In 1977 the sons Josef and Reinhard join the company after having finished their education. In the same year daughter Gisela takes over the accounting and payroll accounting and is the company’s authorized signatory today.
In 1987 the J. Hochgerner GesmbH & Co KG was founded, jointly run by father and sons as associates.
Pathway to the future
In 1992, after the retirement of Josef Hochgerner sen., the management is taken over by Josef Hochgerner jun. and Reinhard Hochgerner. The company is renamed to Hochgerner Möbelwerkstätten GesmbH & Co KG.
The change of legal form to Hochgerner Möbelwerkstätte GmbH in 2006 determines the course for the future.
